The stand has rollers axial opposite continuously moving along a surface length. Roller contours of the roller are retrofitted in a neutral shift position and axially divided into a section. A section of the contours includes a contour course that is represented by a parameterized mathematical function, so that a roll gap profile is adjusted and adapted to different requirements of a rolling process and to various operating conditions. The contours are divided into an inner section adjacent to a center line of the rollers and outer section adjacent to a central line on the inner section.
