PURPOSE: A mobile terminal, a secondary channel authentication apparatus, and a method thereof are provided to reduce the risk of hacking because a hacker cannot find an ID and a secret number unless hacking the online terminal and the mobile terminal of a client at the same time. CONSTITUTION: A secondary channel authentication apparatus(200) includes a secondary channel authentication data storage unit(210), a communication unit(220), and a secondary channel authentication unit(230). A secondary channel authentication data generating unit generates and stores secondary channel authentication data in case a secondary channel authentication is requested from a mobile terminal. A communication unit receives secondary channel authentication data from an online terminal into which secondary channel authentication data outputted by the mobile terminal is inputted and transmits corresponding secondary channel authentication result data to a content server. The secondary channel authentication unit examines the validity of the secondary channel authentication data and performs secondary channel authentication by using user ID data, secondary channel secret data, or a terminal identifier.
