PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device of IPS drive system, which prevents degradation in the performance of the liquid crystal device and also prevents decrease in manufacturing yield.SOLUTION: A thin film transistor substrate 100 includes: source wires 6 and gate wires 31 arranged such that they intersect in grid; and thin film transistors 32 disposed at the intersections of the source wires 6 and gate wires 31. The source wires are covered with insulation films 3, and the insulation films are covered with first orientation films 5. A counter substrate 200 has a projection 16 disposed so as to project toward the thin film transistor substrate 100. The projection 16 is disposed such that when the thin film transistor substrate 100 and the counter substrate 200 are arranged opposite to each other, the projection 16 covers the upper part of the corresponding source wire 6 and extends along the source wire 6. The projection 16 also has a conductive film 17 disposed on the end face of the source wire. The projection 16 and conductive film 17 are covered with a second orientation film 15. |
