摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a display panel, which uses ferro-electric liquid crystal molecules, the method being able to accurately display black, and to provide the other.SOLUTION: A driving method for a liquid crystal device 100, according to the invention, is provided for displaying an image on a display panel 110 provided in front of an illuminating device 140. In the method, a drive voltage for driving each liquid crystal molecule LC is applied to the liquid crystal molecule LC based on pixel data. Especially in order to control the transmission light intensity of light, emitted from the illuminating device 140, in each pixel, the tilt of the liquid crystal molecule LC in a first direction, which moves in the direction of a reference axis 51 based on a first polarization axis 52, and the tilt of a liquid crystal molecule LC in a second direction, which moves in a direction away from the reference axis 51, are controlled according to the voltage level and polarity of a drive voltage (a voltage held in a capacitor C) applied to the liquid crystal molecule LC.
