The electronic ignition system for internal combustion engines esp. motor vehicle engines has two voltage generators. The first provides a saw-tooth waveform proportional to the angular displacement of a reference source from a point on the fly wheel. The second generates a voltage proportional to the engine rpm. Ignition control is primarily from a position sensor, which can be optical, magnetic etc. The sensor output is shaped and feeds a multi-output generator. This supplies processing circuits including a memory controlling the ignition signals and accessories such as a rev counter, injection units, diagnostic panels etc.
|
