<p>A tool for sealing the end of a metal pipe (C) consists of a hydraulic or pneumatic jack (16) fixed to a cross-bar (18). The ram (21) of the jack abuts against the upper surface of a jaw (10) which together with a lower jaw (11), is attached to the cross-bar by bolts (12, 13). When the pipe has been closed by the action of the ram, the jaws are held permanently together by tightening nuts (14, 15) which are fitted to the bolts below the tubular nuts (20, 19) attached to the crossbar. The tube and jaws can be removed from the jack by unscrewing the tubular nuts.</p> |
