Sound-absorbant substrate for synthetic tiles comprises a layer of rubber latex filled with particles of cork, and supported on a slab of concrete. Typically the cork-filler rubber layer is approx. 8 mm thick and coated with a 2 mm thick mastic for anchoring the tile to the substrate.
