<p>In the oven, the cakes are heated on horizontal baking plates which are rotated about a vertical axis. The front vertical face of the oven has one loading and one discharge opening for each baking plate. The loading openings are in one, vertically aligned set and the discharge openings in a parallel set. Means are provided for simultaneously feeding a cake through each of the loading openings and for automatically discharging cooked cakes via the discharge openings. The cake feeder pref comprises a spring-return, horizontal reciprocating plate for each loading opening. The plate is normal,ly outside the oven to collect a cake but can be advanced, with cake, through the opening to carry the cake on to the baking plate. Discharge of cakes from each plate is pref by means of a plough which deflects each cake in turn from the rotating plate on to a chute delivering through the discharge openings are pref fited with retractable shutters. The shutters can be non-return, pivoted trap plates, flexible curtains etc. Loading and discharging involves much less heat loss than with batch loaded or spade loaded ovens.</p> |
