The system (21) has a fixing device (25) including a support (31) for holding a crystalline alumina cover part. A grinding device (27) comprises abrasive units (33) e.g. grindstone, rotatably mounted around a first rotation axis (A3), and polishes the part along a first curvature (C1). The fixing device comprises moving units for moving the support such that the support causes reciprocating movement (B) along a second rotation axis (A4). A contact surface of the abrasive units is curved so as to polish the part along a second curvature (C2) in addition to the first curvature. The cover part is made of sapphire, corundum or ruby materials.
