PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of performing continuous and effective display while simultaneously displaying a plurality of still images or moving images. SOLUTION: The image display device comprises a slide show display section 104 for continuously displaying a plurality of still images or moving images while simultaneously displaying them, and an important scene extracting section 102 for extracting an important scene from the moving images. Furthermore, a digest moving image-generating section 103 is provided for generating one or more digest moving images, settled within a predetermined playback time, including the important scene based on a degree of importance for the important scene extracted by the important scene-extracting section 102. When a plurality of digest moving images are generated by the digest moving image-generating section 103, the slide show display section 104 displays the digest moving images on separate frames.
