<p>A mechanism for driving a weft insertion rod 16 of a shuttleless loom comprises a hollow rod 24 reciprocated by crank-lever mechanism from the sley of the loom, the rod carrying a pinion 42 meshing with a rack 18, fixed to the sley, and with a rack 46 fixed to the insertion rod 16, so that the insertion rod 16 is given double the movement of the rod 24.
