In stratified charge engines, a gas free of fuel is introduced during a first section time in the lower part of the chamber, rotated towards the piston; in a second time fuel is added to the gas. The purpose is to provide a mixing device which allows to obtain better values for the exhaust gases and a reduced consumption. To this effect, a rotation motion is created (12, 13, 35) in the combustion chamber (6, 16) during the compression time a little before the high dead point of the piston until the high dead point is reached; the space before the spark plug (14) must be free of this rotation (12, 13, 35). This rotation provides a total homogenization of the mixture by equalizing rich and poor zones. Thereby, a uniform combustion results with a higher resistence limit to explosion.
