The invention relates to a method and system for monitoring the value of an investment which, typically will be in the form of a portfolio of investments. The system comprises a database 10 connected to a communication means 12 (e.g. the internet) to permit regularly timed updates from remote data sources 14, and processing means 16 to calculate a new value for the investment based on the updated data. The new value may shown on graphical interface 18 and also be compared with at least one, but typically two predetermined value settings (20, 22 fig 2a&b) and when the new value is outside the value settings, an alert 31 is generated which notifies the user (typically a financial advisor) that remedial action should be taken to bring the value of the investment within a predefined acceptable range. |
