<p>A battery switch access system 212 for use on a machine or vehicle 100 is provided. The machine 100 includes an engine 116. The battery switch access system 212 includes a battery switch 210 configured to selectively switch a battery 118 on or off. The system 212 includes an access panel 216 with a locking device 218 for selectively providing access to the switch 210. A controller 214 is operatively connected to the switch 210 and the locking device 218. The controller 214 selectively disables operation of the switch 210 for a predetermined time after engine shut down and selectively locks the access panel 216 by using the locking device 218 for the predetermined time. The invention can prevent damage and ensures for instance with a selective catalytic reduction system that cooling and purging temporarily continue after engine shutdown.</p> |
