<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus which can obtain images with quantifying such nonlinearity of the living tissue that elasticity varies according to the degree of compression. <P>SOLUTION: The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus includes a displacement calculation section 51 which calculates displacement of different parts of living tissue on the basis of echo signals which constitute a pair of frames with different time of acquisition which are obtained by transmitting ultrasonic waves with applying compression to the living tissue of a subject, an elastic image creating section 53 which creates elastic images of the living tissue on the basis of the displacement which is calculated by the displacement calculation section 51, and a dispersion calculation section 52 which calculates dispersion of several displacements calculated for the same part of the living tissue by the displacement calculation section 51 for the different parts of the living tissue.
