PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide equipment for winding a metal strip with which the meandering of the metal strip caused by a pinch roll is effectively suppressed by comparatively simple constitution of equipment. SOLUTION: In the equipment for winding the metal strip provided with the pinch roll on the inlet side of a coiler, a rotatable press roll X which is brought into contact with a passing metal strip and with which the metal strip is held on the plane of the pass line or in the lower position than the plane of the pass line is provided in a position on the upstream side of the pinch roll and this press roll X is composed of (i) a non-driven type upper roll 1a and a non-driven or a driven-type lower roll 1b with which the metal strip is vertically held or (ii) a non-driven type roll 1c which is brought into contact with the upper surface of the metal strip. By suppressing the out-of-plane deformation (lateral buckling) of the metal strip with the press roll X, the meandering of the metal strip caused by the pinch roll is prevented.
