PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preventing erroneous determination of dust detection, in which generation of dust is prevented from being erroneously determined from the occurrence of rapid decrease of a resistance value caused by biting-in of foreign matters like dirt so as to prevent erroneous operation for performing processing during generation of dust on the basis of such erroneous determination. SOLUTION: The method of preventing erroneous determination of dust detection is for preventing erroneous determination of an apparatus for detecting dust generation, wherein the apparatus monitors a resistance value r during resistance welding and detects dust generation when a variation amount rd of the resistance value per unit time is equal to or more than a threshold L. The method includes: a first step S1 in which the upper limit of the resistance value at the start of normal resistance welding is set as the upper limit threshold UL; a second step S3 which determines whether or not a resistance value during resistance welding is over the upper limit threshold; and a third step S6 in which, if the resistance value is over the upper limit threshold, no calculation of dust detection is performed for a period of the resistance value in excess of the upper limit threshold and for a period after the resistance value becomes equal to or less than the upper limit threshold until a lapse of prescribed time T.
