The subject of the present invention is to apply a sufficient electric field to a liquid crystal material in a transverse electric field type liquid crystal display device which is representative of an FFS method. The electric field is applied to the liquid crystal material on a common electrode or a pixel electrode by using multiple pairs of electrodes instead of a pair of electrodes in the transverse electric field type liquid crystal display device. One pair of electrodes include the common electrode of a comb-shaped common electrode and a comb-shaped pixel electrode. The other pair of electrodes include a common electrode provided on a pixel part and the comb-shaped pixel electrode. |
