The invention relates to a device for measuring alignment and straightness. A light source and a stabilising optical system are provided. Arranged on the measurement object in the beam path are respectively a position- and direction-sensitive element and a position-sensitive element, which have bearing surfaces and, in the interior, beam splitters and reflectors as well as elements which are in part active in terms of polarisation optics. Photoelements assigned to these elements supply electrical signals which are further processed in order to determine alignment and straightness.
