The present invention relates to a hardenable dental composition comprising: (a) a polyacid; (b) an acid-reactive filler; (c) at least 10 weight percent of a nanofiller, the nanofiller having an average particle size of at most 200 nanometers; and (d) water. The invention also relates to the use such compositions in the preparation of dental articles.
