The disclosed technique relates to a method for reducing network loads by using remote MEPs and comprises the following steps: a step wherein a first maintenance end point (MEP) is connected between one port of a maintenance intermediate point (MIP) and a server, and a second MEP is connected between the other port of the MIP and a user node; a step wherein the connected first MEP detects a failure (down) generated at the link of the server; a step wherein the first MEP notifies the second MEP about the generation of the failure by transmitting a connectivity check message (CCM) to the second MEP; and a step wherein the second MEP shuts down the link of the user node according to failure detection information contained in the CCM. Therefore, the disclosed technique provides load reduction of the entire network by shutting down the link of a user node connected to the second MEP and the link of a node connected from a remote location.
