The present invention relates to a 3 degrees of freedom motor allowing 3 degrees of freedom rotation measurement. The present invention comprises a spherical stator; a spherical rotor which surrounds the spherical stator; a pair of optical sensors which are arranged on the surface of the spherical stator to be separated from each other at the predetermined angle based on the center of the spherical stator; and a driving control part which sets a cartesian coordinate system to have an origin based on the center of the spherical stator, outputs coordinate values for the locations where the optical sensors are arranged based on the set cartesian coordinate system using the received sensing values and uses the outputted coordinate values to calculate the rotation angle, the precession angle, and the tilting angle of the 3 degrees of freedom motor. The present invention may obtain location information of a rotor using only the outputted sensing values from the pair of optical sensors arranged in the spherical stator, thereby improving a dynamic characteristic of a motor, manufacturing a light weight product and saving manufacturing costs.
