REDISPERSIBLE DRIED NANOCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE

A dried form, for example a film, of nanocrystalline cellulose (H-NCC) having an initial moisture content of at least 4%, by weight is water dispersibile, and such dried form is lightweight and easily transportable; the dried form can be resuspended in water for use in a desired application such as film preparation; this represents a significant advantage over prior non-water redispersible nanocrystalline cellulose (H-NCC) which needs to be maintained and transported in the original suspension prior to use in a desired application. A process for preparing the dried form is also provided as is a method of casting a solid film from the dried form.
