PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle detection system capable of prolonging the lifetime of a pump which generates compressed air required for the operation of a detection section.SOLUTION: A particle detection system 1 for detecting the amounts of particles in gas to be measured circulating in an exhaust pipe EP includes: a detection section 10 mounted on the exhaust pipe EP; a pump 300 for generating compressed air required for the operation of the detection section 10; an air tank 303 for reversing the compressed air generated by the pump 300, and for sending the compressed air to the detection section 10; and a pump driving control device for controlling the driving of the pump 300. The pump driving control device intermittently drives the pump 300.
