PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent overdischarge of a battery attached to an information processing apparatus even if the product is shipped with the battery attached thereto, by preventing complete discharge of the battery from the factory shipment until unpacking of the product by a user.SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes a RAM 106 that stores a state identifier indicating whether to make a battery 101 in a state capable of charging/discharging or in a state incapable of charging/discharging. Control means 102, when a PC 1 is shut down upon detection of the fact that the state identifier is indicated to make the battery 101 in a state incapable of charging/discharging, stops a charging/discharging function of the battery 101, and makes the battery 101 in a state incapable of charging/discharging after the shut down. |
