PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition that can form a metallic coat excellent in chemical resistance and weather resistance, particularly a coating composition suitable to form matte metallic topcoat films on metal plates.SOLUTION: A coating composition comprises: a resin binder component including a polyester resin component containing an aliphatic acid-modified polyester resin in which the total content of alicyclic polybasic acid is within a particular range relative to the total amount of a polybasic acid component and a melamine resin component containing a butyl-etherified melamine resin; and a metallic pigment component.
