PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag type occupant protection device capable of coupling a retainer and a lid to each other inexpensively and securing coupling strength between the retainer and the lid.SOLUTION: An air bag device 10 includes an inflator 11, an air bag 20, and the retainer 30 for storing the air bag 20 and is configured so that the air bag 20 is swelled out in a vehicle interior 2 while pushing the lid 50 out of the way, when a deceleration exceeding a specified value acts on a vehicle. A lid side surface part 55 is disposed inside a retainer side surface part 35 and an engaging part 40 in which the retainer side surface part 35 and the lid side surface part 55 are engaged with each other, is provided between the retainer side surface part 35 and the lid side surface part 55 so that working pressure of the air bag 20 is received by the retainer side surface part 35 and the lid side surface part 55, whereby an engaging force between the retainer 30 and the lid 50 is retained. |
