PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an alkylene oxide adduct of an alcohol while exhibiting good production efficiency and producing little by-products.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing an alkylene oxide adduct of an alcohol (D) represented by the following general formula (1) by adding a C2-C4 alkylene oxide to a C6-C22 alcohol (C) in the presence of an acid catalyst (B) and a nitrogen-containing compound (A), i.e., at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an amide compound (A1), an amine compound (A2), a hydrazide compound (A3), a hydrazone compound (A4) and an amino acid compound (A5). |
