SELECTIVE METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF GLYCERALDEHYDE FROM GLYCEROL AND CATALYSTS FOR REALISATION THEREOF

The present invention is related to chemical technology, specifically to the method of glyceraldehyde production by the process of selective glycerol oxidation in presence of various platinum-supported catalysts. The aim of the invention is to increase glyceraldehyde yield and selectivity of process using economical and environmentally safe methods, as well as utilization of bio-diesel manufacturing by-product – glycerol. Oxidation of glycerol is performed in base-free water solutions with oxygen’s pressure of 1 atm. in barbotage type reactor. The glyceraldehyde is obtained with high selectivity. Extraction-pyrolysis method for supported catalyst synthesis is used. The new developed method of glyceraldehyde synthesis is simple, economical and environmentally safe.
