PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce leakage of vibration energy to achieve a low crystal impedance (CI) value.SOLUTION: A crystal vibration element comprises: a tabular crystal piece; excitation electrodes provided on both principal surfaces of the crystal piece; and a routing pattern that is provided at one edge of the crystal piece to connect to the excitation electrodes. The crystal piece is provided in its side surfaces with "m" surfaces, and the routing pattern is provided along an edge of the "m" surface and provided on the principal surface or/and the "m" surface of the crystal piece. One of edges of a short diameter side of an elliptical excitation electrode is positioned at one of edges of the principal surface of the crystal piece, and the other thereof is positioned at an edge of the principal surface of the crystal piece at the "m" surface side or in the "m" surface.
