PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit for driving a switching element which can accurately determine that an overcurrent flows through a switching element S*# (*=c, u, v, w; #=p, n) even if a phase-to-phase short circuit occurs.SOLUTION: While turning on a switching element S*#, a drive control section 48 performs the process of determining whether or not a voltage change rate Sse is a negative value and below a specified voltage. An affirmative determination in the process asserts that there is a phase-to-phase short circuit, and triggers the process of turning on a soft cutoff switching element 40 and turning off a constant current switching element 26 and also a discharging switching element 30. |
