PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance FFP measurement accuracy.SOLUTION: An optical fiber measurement method includes a measurement process for obtaining an effective cross section or a mode field diameter after obtaining a far field pattern (FFP) of an optical fiber 100 by measuring the intensity of light to be emitted from an emission end surface 102 at a position where a distance from the emission end surface 102 is R through the use of a detector 40 capable of rotating with a rotation center position 31 as an axis to allow a rotation radius to be R concerning the optical fiber 100 where light from a light source 10 is made incident from one end surface 101, propagated in an optical axis direction, and then emitted from the other emission end surface 102. In this case, the method includes a preparation process for obtaining the set position of the emission end surface 102 where an effective cross section or a mode field diameter is not changed even when R is changed before the measurement process. Measurement is performed by setting the emission end surface 102 at the set position in the measurement process to thereby suppress a position deviation of the optical fiber 100. Thus, FFP measurement accuracy is improved. |
