IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reliably detecting the fact that power supply to an image forming mechanism has been interrupted because the door of the apparatus housing is temporarily opened even though the door is closed.SOLUTION: A detection result from a door opening/closing detection sensor and change of an interlock power source voltage for supplying power to the mechanism while the door is closed and blocking power supply while the door is opened are monitored by a control unit. The door opening/closing detection sensor outputs a door detection signal S which becomes a logic L only in an interval in which the door is opened. The control unit generates the door detection signal L of the logic L at the time when the interlock power source voltage has been blocked and holds that signal level of the door detection signal L (logic L) with a latch circuit. After recognizing that the interlock power source voltage and the signal level of the door detection signal S have been returned, the signal level of the door detection signal L held by the latch circuit is returned.
