PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that the temperature of a CO reduction section at self-sustained startup falls within an appropriate range.SOLUTION: A PEFC system 1 has a system linked startup mode using a system power supply CE as a system power supply at system startup and a self-sustained startup mode using an external power supply BA in stead of the system power supply CE. When in the self-sustained startup mode, the operation of a transformation unit heater 24 is controlled so that the temperature T of a CO transformation unit 22 is higher than the temperature T of the CO transformation unit 22 when in the system linked startup mode (higher than a first target temperature region P). Also, when the system power supply is switched from the external power supply BA to a solid polymer type fuel cell 40 (time of day t2), the operation of both the transformation unit heater 24 and a selective oxidation unit heater 26 are stopped. |
