PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zinc oxide based wurtzite type composite oxide having excellent insulation properties and piezoelectric properties, and piezoelectric element including the zinc oxide based wurtzite type composite oxide.SOLUTION: The wurtzite type composite oxide is a piezoelectric material represented by the following general formula (P). (P) is Zn(A, B, C)O (where, 0.6≤x<1, 0<y, 0≤z and 0<w, A: a M site element having a monovalent ion and at least one kind of metal elements selected from the group consisting of Li, Na and K, B: a M site element having a divalent ion and at least one kind of metal elements selected from the group consisting of Be, Mg, Ca, Ni, Sr and Ba, C: a M site element having an average ion valence larger than divalence and at least one kind of metal elements selected from the group consisting of Al, Si, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ga, Zr, Nb, Mo, Ta and W.) |
