PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film for imparting retardation to transmitted light by alignment of a liquid crystal material, the film which, as a product with various films disposed thereon, can be inspected with high accuracy.SOLUTION: The optical film includes at least a retardation layer 4 for imparting retardation to transmitted light and a protective film 7 on a substrate 2 comprising a transparent film material. The retardation layer 4 includes first and second regions A and B, respectively, which have different degrees of retardation to be imparted to transmitted light and are successively and alternately arranged. The protective film 7 is a low alignment film having a retardation value of 4000 or less and is disposed in such a manner that a slow axis angle of the protective film is tilted at an angle of about 45 degrees with respect to a slow phase angle in the first or second region A or B of the retardation layer. |
