<p>A drum motor for driving a conveyor belt has a drum motor shell that has at least one torque transfer section in which the outer surface of the shell is polygonal in cross-section. A sprocket having a polygonal, preferably hexagonal inner recess may be provided for transferring torque from the drum motor to a modular belt. Motor components are in a hollow space of the shell, namely a rotor and stator, a first bearing journal arranged on a first end of the shell and a second bearing journal arranged on a second end of the shell, the rotor and stator being mechanically coupled to the shell and to the first and second bearing journals in such a way that relative rotation between the rotor and stator causes relative rotation between the drum motor shell, for the one part, and the first and second bearing journals, for the other part.</p> |
