The invention provides a driving apparatus of a passenger conveyor, which enables the necessary friction coefficient without large-scale equipments and the increase of the number of driving belts.The driving apparatus providing driving force for the passenger conveyor comprises a drive pulley (15) driven by a motor (11), a flywheel (21) coaxially arranged with the drive pulley (15), a brake (14),a driven pulley (16) connected with the rotating shaft of the brake (14) and a driving belt (17) wound and hung between the drive pulley (15) and the driven pulley (16).The driving belt (17) is formed by one or two V-rib type multi-trench bands (17a, 17b) equipped with protuberant portions in the width direction thereof. The number of the protuberant portions is more than 12 and less than 18.The friction of the V-rib type multi-trench bands (17a, 17b) is greater than the braking force thereof. |
