A glass roll (10) is composed of a glass sheet (20) that is wound on a winding core (30). The sheet (20) is wound, while having the edge portion (22) thereof in the width direction shifted in the axis direction of the winding core (30). Therefore, the width (L1) of the roll (10) is larger than the width (L2) of the sheet (20). The sheet (20) has nonuniform thickness in the width direction. When the sheet (20) is wound with thick portions vertically overlapping each other, the sheet (20) is easily broken. When the sheet (20) is wound, while having the sheet shifted in the width direction, since the thick portions and thin portions alternately overlap each other, breakage of the sheet (20) can be suppressed. In order to shift the sheet (20) in the width direction, a force with which a pair of rollers (220, 230) sandwich the sheet (20) or a force with which the roller (250) presses the sheet (20) to the winding core (30) is differently set in the width direction of the sheet (20). The sheet (20) may be wound, while having the winding core (30) shifted in the axis direction. |
