<p>In the prior art, in relation to display of captions, no consideration was given as to selection of the display device for displaying captions. The present invention in one aspect thereof provides a video transmission method for use in a video display system in which a video transmission device that transmits a video signal, a display device that receives and displays the video signal transmitted by the video transmission device, and a caption display device that receives and displays caption information from the video transmission device, are connected through a network, wherein the method includes: a step in which the caption display device requests information about the content being displayed by the display device; a step in which the display device transmits information about the content being displayed by the display device; a step in which the transmitted content information is acquired by the caption display device; a step in which the caption display device, on the basis of the acquired content information, requests caption-related information relating to captions for the content in question; a step in which the video transmission device transmits the caption-related information; a step in which the caption display device acquires the transmitted caption-related information; a step in which the caption display device displays displayable caption information on the basis of the acquired caption-related information; a step in which the caption display device requests transmission of caption information selected from the displayed caption information; a step in which the video transmission device transmits the requested caption information; a step in which the caption display device acquires the transmitted caption information; and a step in which the caption display device displays the acquired caption information.</p> |
