PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a WC base hard metal suitable for high speed cutting and the like of a hard-to-cut material such as superalloy, a high hardness steel and the like, and a manufacturing method therefor as well as an insert for turning.SOLUTION: The WC base hard metal containing 4.0 to 6.5 mass% of Co, Cr having 7 to 11% of mass ratio to Co and Zr having 2 to 5% of mass ratio to Co, is made by bonding a WC particle with Co. The Co content of a surface layer part from a surface of a sintered compact of the hard metal to 100 μm inside in the vertical direction is 0.97 to 1.20 times to the CO content from the surface layer part to the inside, and the average Co content (X60) of a part from a surface of the sintered compact to 60 μm inside in the vertical direction is larger than the average Co content (X100) from the surface of the sintered compact to 60 to 100 μm inside in the vertical direction. There are also provided a manufacturing method therefor as well as an insert for turning. |
