The present invention provides a substrate for the formation of membrane-like connective tissue and a production method for membrane-like connective tissue using this substrate. The substrate enables formation of membrane-like connective tissue of sufficient thickness and strength. More specifically, a connective tissue-forming portion (2) is provided on the surface of the substrate. A thickness-promoting portion (3) is provided around the connective tissue-forming portion (2) and increases the overall size of the substrate for the formation of membrane-like connective tissue (1). The substrate for the formation of membrane-like connective tissue (1) is placed in an environment in which biological tissue is present, and membrane-like connective tissue forms on the surface of the substrate. Thicker membrane-like connective tissue forms in the larger substrate for the formation of membrane-like connective tissue (1). The excess connective tissue formed on the surface of the thickness-promoting portion (3) is removed. The result is stronger, thicker membrane-like connective tissue.
