PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack bar with sufficient strength and durability, and make transmission efficiency of a steering force to a pinion gear constant.SOLUTION: A rack bar 200 meshed with a pinion gear comprises: a shaft section 210; a rack tooth formation section 220 that is provided on the shaft section 210, on which plural rack teeth 221 to be meshed with the pinion gear are parallelly aligned along the shaft direction C, and in which a contact face 223 of each rack tooth 221 contacting the pinion gear is arranged diagonally to the shaft direction C; and a dummy tooth formation section in which at least one dummy tooth 222 is aligned in parallel to the rack teeth 221, from one end or both ends of the rack tooth formation section 220, along the shaft direction C. The height of the dummy tooth 222 is formed smaller than that of the rack teeth 221. |
