PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method of a particulate amount in exhaust gas exhausted from an engine and a detection device of the same, capable of precisely detecting the particulate amount attached to the surface of a tubular body by removing particulates and moisture attached to the surface of the tubular body by combustion to perform a zero point correction of an electrical resistance between electrodes.SOLUTION: A tubular body 24 is fitted to a glow plug 23 disposed on an exhaust pipe 16 and, based on an electrical resistance between a pair of electrodes 28, 29 provided by applying a first voltage between the pair of electrodes on the surface of the tubular body, a controller 38 detects a particulate amount attached to the surface of the tubular body. At every starting of an engine or at every elapse of a predetermined time in a continuous operation state of the engine, the controller applies a second voltage to a heat generating element of the glow plug, and heats and removes particulates attached to the surface of the tubular body. Thereafter, a third voltage lower than the second voltage is applied to the heat generating element to keep the surface of the tubular body at a predetermined temperature and, in such a state, by applying the first voltage between the pair of electrodes, the correction for making the electrical resistance between the pair of electrodes correspond to such a state that the particulate amount on the surface of the tubular body is zero is performed. |
