摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent heat-resistant cutting tool and a rigid material for fabricating the same.SOLUTION: A rigid material 1 is a sintered body comprising TiN and TiCN as hard phases and bound with binder phases such as Co. In a cross section of the rigid material 1, a and b satisfies 0.5≤(a/b), where a is the area ratio of the Ti compound phases 12 of TiN, TiCN and others; and b is the area ratio of the Ti composite compound phases 13 containing Ti and one or more metal elements (except Ti) selected from group 4, 5 and 6 in the periodic table. Having a comparatively small amount of Ti composite compound phases 13 with low thermal conductivity, the rigid material 1 excels in thermal conductivity. Therefore, the cutting tool comprised of the rigid material 1 can suppress heat persistence in the cutting tip thereof during cutting. Accordingly, the cutting tool can suppress cutting performance deterioration caused by the cutting tip having reached high temperature, and excels in heat resistance.
