摘要 <p>The present invention addresses the problem of providing a wave-division multiplex communication device capable of switching transmission paths using a simpler configuration and a method for controlling the wave-division multiplex communication device. This wave-division multiplex communication device (1) is connected to a transmission channel and to a plurality of other redundant optical transmission channels, wherein the device has: a control-signal detection unit (16) for transmitting and receiving a control signal via an optical transmission channel; a switching unit (11) connected between one transmission channel and the optical transmission channel, and used for switching the connection of the optical transmission channel; and a monitoring unit (18) for controlling the wave-division multiplex communication device on the basis of the control signal outputted from the control-signal detection unit. The control-signal detection unit (16) notifies the monitoring unit (18) of a fault when the control signal is not conducted, and the monitoring unit (18) switches the transmission channel using the switching unit (11) on the basis of the fault notification.</p>
