PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument capable of closing and cutting a high quality tube.SOLUTION: An instrument (10) for fusing and cutting tissue includes: a first branch-like part (19) having an electrode (33); and a second branch-like part (20) supported to move to the electrode (33) and away from the electrode (33), and the second branch-like part (20) has a slit (31) in the longitudinal direction. A knife (21) is arranged in the slit to move in the longitudinal direction to a shaft (11). The knife (21) is associated with a vertical adjusting mechanism (54) for adjusting the knife (21) to be vertical to the movement in the longitudinal direction as a function of the movement in the longitudinal direction of the knife. As a result, the tip (28b) or the slide edge (28a) of the knife (21) can be avoided from wearing away at early stage due to a contact with a ceramic base body (23) or edge or a step (55). |
