The device i.e. attachment point such as steel ropes (11, 13, 15), has a signal generator (17) emitting signals that are controlled by a central unit (23), where the device is partially electrical conductively contacted with an electric signal, which is received from a connector (27) of a personal protective equipment (25). The electric signal represents modulated information such as electric voltage and/or electric current, and influences a classification and/or an identification of the device such that the electric signal enables a data communication.
