The present invention discloses a film and a method for the production thereof, the film being made from a woven fabric (2). A casting compound (4) is applied to the woven fabric (2), said casting compound penetrating the woven fabric (2) and filling and sealing all openings in the woven fabric (2). It is also possible for a coating (9) to be applied to the casting compound (4). The film is particularly suitable for producing portable data carriers, such as chip cards or security documents, identity cards for example. The film according to the invention can be laminated with other films to create a card body, for a portable data carrier or a security document for example. |
