PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical element excellent in safety, and a separator capable of constituting the electrochemical element.SOLUTION: A separator for an electrochemical element of the present invention comprises: a first separator layer mainly consisting of a thermoplastic resin; and a second separator layer containing a fire extinguishing material. An electrochemical element of the present invention comprises: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; a separator; and a nonaqueous electrolyte, and the separator is the separator for an electrochemical element of the present invention. |
